West Sussex - Arundel Sightseeing

Certain sections of the walls were maintained in their original condition to show the ancient sketchings. Sussex churches are rich in medieval wall paintings such as this. The coronation of the Virgin Mary, depicted here, has been dated as 12th century. It is in need of restorative work as it was misguidedly treated with wax in 1914 which damaged the paintings.
